Series Introduction

Welcome to the next evolution of the "Meet Me In..." research series. The goal of the series has always been to educate, create awareness, and highlight key facts about where, how and why the physical networks that make up the world's information infrastructure meet.

Philadelphia

Then

The original series featured 401 North Broad Street, the dominant carrier hotel in Philadelphia, and Meridian Telesis at 3701 Market Street. Since there was no building Meet Me Room within 401 North Broad at the time (an issue Newby Ventures helped resolve with Netrality years later), the Switch & Data facility was the highlighted neutral interconnection point in the building. Interestingly, Meridian Telesis was acquired by Switch and Data in 2004, one year after this research was originally published. At the time, there were no Internet Exchanges listed as present at either facility.

Now

401 North Broad is now owned by Netrality Data Centers and has an official building Meet Me Room. The Switch and Data facility at 401 North Broad was acquired and is now owned by Equinix. 3701 Market does not appear in the research as there is no IX present at this address.

Networks (ASN’s) are listed as “accessible” via an IX. Accessibility is on a VLAN basis. This does not imply that the networks are physically present in the Facility. To know if a network accessible on an IX is also physically present in the same Facility as the IX, see the "AS Network Accessibility by Facility" table below this table.
