Moonshot and QumulusAI have announced a strategic agreement with Connected Nation Internet Exchange Points (IXP.us) to deploy a nationally distributed AI compute and internet exchange platform.
Through this joint venture, known as QAI Moon, the partners will deploy a platform that pairs carrier-neutral Internet Exchange Points with modular AI Pods at 25 initial sites, with plans to scale to 125 locations across U.S. university research campuses and municipalities over five years.
The first deployment is scheduled to begin by July 2026 at Wichita State University in Kansas.
Each AI Pod deployment is engineered as a network-dense, low-latency inference platform optimized for QumulusAI's GPU-as-a-Service model, featuring dual 400G IP transit connections and direct fiber adjacency to IXP interconnection infrastructure.
